RIT Croatia Dubrovnik Campus

RIT Croatia campus in Dubrovnik is located in the vicinity of the Dubrovnik Old Town at the address Don Frana Bulića 6. The campus building is home to more than 200 students, staff and faculty.

Dubrovnik is truly a unique destination that magnificently combines the natural beauty of the pristine Adriatic Sea and mountainous Croatian landscape with outstanding architecture and old-world charm. The stunning city of Dubrovnik with its historic Old Town became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979. The gleaming marble streets are lined with baroque buildings and Renaissance fountains and have recently become the setting for the popular television series "Game of Thrones”. The history of Dubrovnik is a fascinating study of the rise of a great maritime power that lived in peace and prosperity for nearly five centuries. But Dubrovnik is so much more than a fascinating Old Town. It is a first- class Adriatic resort completed with beautiful pebble beaches and vibrant nightlife.

Housing and Dining

Students will live in furnished apartments conveniently located close to campus and other surrounding sites. Local bus service is reliable, easy to use and affordable, which allows unlimited travel within the region. The apartments have kitchens so students will be preparing their own meals and shopping at nearby grocery stores. 
  

Most apartments sleep 2-6 students with a shared bathroom, kitchen and living area. You should anticipate having to share a room; but while an apartment may be co-ed, any individual roommate will be of the same gender. Apartments are fully furnished. Each room contains a bed with a mattress, linens, towels, dressers or wardrobe. The living room is furnished with couches and TV. There is a seating area in the kitchens consisting of chairs and a dining table. Apartments are equipped with a clothes washer, but none of the apartments have clothes dryers (most people dry their clothes on a clothes rack). Wireless Internet access is also provided. Apartments may be a 20-30 minute walk or 5-15 minutes of bus ride to campus.

Another housing option in Dubrovnik is student dormitory, available per request only and depending on the room availability for each semester, where students share a room with another student. All rooms are double, with single beds, work desks, en-suite bathroom, bedding and linens, wi-fi, small kitchenettes on each floor, gym, reception open 24/7 and a student restaurant which is serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Student dorm is 7 minutes away from the RIT Croatia campus by bus, or 25 minutes of walking.

Dining options for study abroad students and places to buy food include: smaller mini-markets, supermarkets, fresh green markets, restaurants, fast foods, deliveries and many more places. Each student will receive a handbook at the Orientation, containing dining suggestions.

Course Work

Programs and curriculum at RIT Croatia are fully aligned with the high standards of education from RIT. All classes are held in English and faculty members are American and European professors with rich academic and professional experience. The quality of Rochester Institute of Technology has been recognized by respected world -known organizations and media.

RIT Croatia Dubrovnik campus offers two undergraduate majors: Hospitality Tourism Management and Web and Mobile Computing.

Students typically take a minimum of 12 credits (4 courses) during their academic semester abroad.  Your department advisor can review and pre-approve the RIT courses offered to ensure that you stay on track with your individual degree program. The academic calendar closely follows the RIT calendar and consists of 2 semesters and a summer semester.

Croatian Visa

Your student visa is an official government document that temporarily authorizes you to be in the country you are traveling to. Prior to applying for study abroad; please make sure to check the expiration date on your passport. Visa approval requires that your passport be valid for a minimum of six months past the end date of your program. All incoming students will get assistance and support during this process from RIT Croatia International Student Office staff members.

• Students from the USA, EU, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand who are planning to study abroad in Croatia for a semester must apply for a Temporary Stay in Croatia.
• India, China, and UAE are a few of the countries* whose citizens must ALSO apply for a travel visa before entry into Croatia in addition to the Temporary Stay. A comprehensive list is available here. You can also find more information on the Croatian Embassy website.

Documents needed for temporary stay:

• Form 1A completed https://mup.gov.hr/UserDocsImages/dokumenti/stranci/Obrazac%201a.pdf
• Copy of passport
• Confirmation of enrollment
• No criminal record certificate with an apostille translated by an official court interpreter to Croatian language
• Health insurance document (this can include private travel insurance that covers health insurance for the duration of stay in Croatia)
• Proof of funds (bank statement in student's name proving that the student has a minimum of 1695,75 kunas=$264 for every month of study.) If the student does not have its own bank account then the statement can be from the parents and an additional statement of support document needs to be signed by parents and verified by a public notary). Documents need to be translated into Croatian langauge.
• Apartment contract signed by landlord and student and verified by a public notary
• Photo size 35X45mm
• 70 kuna duty stamps

Once the temporary stay has been approved, payment will have to be made in the amount of 590 kunas (350 kunas and 240 kunas). Proof of payment needs to be taken to the police and once the temporary stay card is ready, the student can pick up the card.

You will submit your application to the authorities after you arrive in Croatia. A staff member from RIT Croatia will accompany you to the authorities to register your arrival and submit your temporary stay documents. The application review process can last anywhere from 4 - 6 weeks. Students who do not require a travel visa for entry into Croatia (USA, Canada, EU, Australia, New Zealand) will be able to enter the country with a valid passport. Your temporary stay card will be issued in Croatia once your application is approved. Once you receive your temporary stay card, you should keep that with you at all times, along with your passport.

The Student Government is a self-governing organization of and for the students of RIT Croatia. The Student Government works to improve the quality of student life at RIT Croatia.  The RIT Croatia Student Government represents all RIT Croatia students. Extracurricular activities, socializing and having fun are important part of studying at RIT Croatia. Take the opportunity and enrich your experience by participating in rich student life:
