One Day at the Event Lab: How to Successfully Organize an Event?

November 16, 2022

On November 15, RIT Croatia hosted a workshop for high school and university students from Dubrovnik on the topic "One Day at the Event Lab: How to Successfully Organize an Event?”. The workshop was held by RIT Croatia Alumni, Anđela and Ksenija Matić, owners of the Event Lab agency and experienced event creators with a reputable knowledge in broad areas of event management industry.
The workshop started with a basic introduction in the industry, followed by the most important tips for creating a successful event. Participants were then randomly divided into groups and each group got a separate event to organize, whether it is an international wedding, a business conference, a concert or a high-end birthday celebration.

Anamarija Senjanin, a second year student at RIT Croatia’s Hospitality and Tourism Management program, joined this workshop with the aim to learn more about the exciting world of event management industry and to hear how it functions in the real world from first hand. "I was on a team that had to organize a two-day business conference for 50 people, which was pretty easy for me because of a similar assignment I’ve had during my first year of studying at RIT Croatia. Honestly, I really enjoyed taking part in this workshop, especially because I was working with high-school students. I was careful not to overtake the project due to the advantage of already being a second year student here, so I gave them some suggestions that turned out to be very useful! They brainstormed the whole time, and it was so much fun to watch them do it. I was literally just like them when I just enrolled at RIT Croatia. This experience showed me how much I’ve actually grown in the past two years and how much I’ve already learned in my time at RIT Croatia. I was also very happy to see that all of the learning outcomes I’ve got from this workshop confirmed the knowledge gained in my classes, and I am especially thankful to Dr. Besim Agušaj and his courses”, said Anamarija.

Alumni play one of the key roles when it comes to connecting existing RIT Croatia students with the industries, and workshops and various lectures turn out to be excellent venues for knowledge sharing. Anamarija commented how important it is for students to be able to listen to real life examples. "Thus far, I have participated in several Zoom lectures given by our Alumni and it was a great experience thanks to their fascinating stories and wise advices. But having the chance to participate in real time workshops is even better than Zoom.  I was very impressed with Anđela and Ksenija Matić and I admire their courage to open something like this. Their story is filled with success as a result of hard work and dedication, and I wish them only the best for all their future projects!”
