On November 15th, 2019 RIT students that are currently enrolled in the Operations Management course were invited to the Konzum Logistics and Distribution Center in Zagreb. Two groups of 40 students were organized to have a tour of the center. Mr. Adrian Alajkovic hosted us throughout our trip. Not only is Mr. Alajkovic an adjunct lecturer at RIT Croatia but he is also Supply Chain Planning and Inventory Mgmt Director at Konzum. The students had the great opportunity to see all the concepts that they have been learning during their Operations Management course and how they can be implemented in business practices. They also were able to see which operations management strategies are used frequently at Konzum, how to measure productivity, how to organize a warehouse of that size and many other operations practices.
With the start of the new academic year higher education institutions are facing unique challenges that stand to swiftly, thoroughly, and permanently reshape them. When academic year starts with key messages focused around safety of students and faculty, it is clear even to a common observer that students and faculty alike are embarking on a journey like none before.
