Students from Rochester exploring natural beauty of Croatia through study abroad program

July 3, 2019

Students from Rochester campus spent four weeks exploring the natural beauty of Croatia, its diverse ecosystems and wine making history, methods and techniques as a part of their studying abroad experience. During their time spent in Croatia, students had two courses taught at the RIT Croatia Dubrovnik campus - Ecology of the Dalmatian Coast course, taught by Dr. Staša Puškarić, renowned scientist and professor at RIT Croatia, and Wines of the World class taught by Ms. Ksenija Matić, RIT Croatia Alumna, Owner at EventLab company and sommelier.

The goal of this exciting study abroad program was to combine classroom-based study with field learning excursions and guided tours that took students to coastal areas, national parks and wine regions outside of Dubrovnik.

During the program students visited Pelješac peninsula, Konavle region and Mostar and Vjetrenica Cave in nearby Bosnia and Herzegovina. The cherry on the top of this unique learning experience was a week-long sailing excursion along the coastal islands in the Adriatic Sea to study the local ecosystems which have influenced the rich history of Croatian wine culture.
