AssessMe advanced software developed by Dr. Alan Mutka and Dr. Martin Žagar among finalists of ZICER’s Startup Factory

December 15, 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live making it both easier and more difficult at the same time. Namely, a lot of our everyday activities are now conducted remotely. Working and studying remotely has its advantages and disadvantages, one of which is connected to evaluation of students’ knowledge via exams and tests executed remotely using online platforms.

Our faculty, Dr. Alan Mutka and Dr. Martin Žagar teamed up with marketing and business expert, Fatima Živković, and a commercial apps programmer, Josip Nižetić, to develop an interesting software solution called AssessMe. This advanced software solution uses artificial intelligence to track the creation of digital text-based tasks in real time. The software will conduct detailed auto-analysis, visualization and verifications to confirm that there was no cheating during the exams. Not only is this solution applicable for educational institutions, but it can also help companies in their hiring processes while they evaluate potential employees’ skills and knowledge.

Dr. Martin Žagar says that the additional benefit of the solution lies in the fact that it is adjusted to the hybrid model of class delivery: "This means that we can use it simultaneously - with a part of the students solving tasks in the classroom, while the rest are doing the same - only remotely.”

"We are very happy with the results so far”, says Dr Mutka, "We believe that the hybrid model of both working and class delivery will continue, and are in the process of discussing the use of AssessMe by other educational institutions and companies as well.”
