By Džejla Šuman, RIT Croatia Student Government President
As December rolls around and our faculty staff and students are getting ready to wrap up another (successful!) semester, our Student Government brings the annual Charity Auction to the whole RIT Croatia community. This event is near and dear to us all, one which brings us all together and shows the spirit of our community as we raise money for those in need. A tradition spanning over 20 years has lived on even in these difficult times, simply in a transformed format through the Silent and Live Auctions held online as a joint event of both Dubrovnik and Zagreb campuses.
This year, we will be donating the funds to the "Mladi
Protiv Gladi" organization from Vinkovci. The aim of the auction is to
raise funds for socially disadvantaged families.
The concept of the event is:
During this time, we hope to raise money for this great cause, but above all, we wish to raise awareness about people suffering from having basic daily needs like food and hygiene supplies. To help us do that, we invite everyone in our community to join us in the next couple of weeks to contribute to this important issue.
How can you support the event?
Thank you for supporting us and showing the strength of our spirit!
Dr. Jakob Patekar has published a journal article titled “The Perpetuation of Stereotypes in Croatian Public Discourse: ‘Autistic’ as a Pejorative” in the Croatian A1 / international Scopus-indexed Q3 journal Collegium Antropologicum.
Remember that quote from the renowned Starbucks CEO, Howard Schultz that said the company is the people business serving coffee, and not the other way around? This point of view absolutely applies to RIT Croatia. Being a student-centric academic institution, we are fully committed to develop and deliver the best learning experiences for our students.
Please note that RIT Croatia campuses are closed from December 23rd, 2021 until January 2nd, 2022 due to holiday break. We are back at your service starting from Monday, January 3rd, 2022.
With the aim to raise awareness about financial literacy and stock trading, students of RIT Dubai's Finance club organized RIT’s First Inter-Campus Trading Competition with success! The competition took place for seven weeks, from October 20, 2021 to December 5, 2021, during which students of RIT campuses in Dubai, Rochester and Croatia invested virtual money in different classes of securities like stocks, bonds, options, futures cryptos, and Forex. Grouped in teams of 2-4 members, students competed using the Stock Trak real-time trading platform which allowed them to invest and manage a virtual portfolio.
