On December 5, Career Services Office has arranged a site visit for WMC students in Dubrovnik to a company called Direct Booker. Direct Booker is a successful travel agency that assists tourists in finding their private accommodation and tourist activities. The learning outcomes for our students were to get acquainted with this particular company, their IT department, to network and to see how it looks like to work at Direct Booker.
Dr. Branko Mihaljević, participated on May 22nd in an online event organized by Oracle Academy and HUJAK, about the past, present, and the future of software development, with the special focus on the Java programming language and platform, held as a tribute to the 25th anniversary of programming language Java, initially publicly announced on May 23rd, 1995, at the SunWorld '95 conference.
RIT Alumni Association is organizing webinars for the entire RIT Alumni community. This Wednesday the main speaker will be our alum, Mr. Zoran Pejović and will be talking about the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on the travel and tourism industry.
On Saturday, May 6, 2020, RIT Croatia held the virtual conferring of degrees for the Class of 2020. While this celebration was not intended to replace a traditional commencement, it recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of this generation.
As we all know, the current pandemic left no one unaffected – people, businesses all over the world are adapting to, what many refer to as “new normal”. Sure, as measures are easing up (at least in Croatia), we all are trying to adjust to new experiences in primarily service industries. Talking to our students, and alumni, as well as our own circle of friends, one thing everyone noted was the importance of adaptability. One thing we have surely learned is that changes are a constant. And yes, some take time to take root, but others (like the one brought about by COVID-19 pandemic) happened so quickly and impacted our lives.
