A lecture organized especially for RIT Croatia hospitality
industry partners was held by Mr. Karthik Namasivayam on Monday, May 21st, at
RIT Croatia Dubrovnik campus. Around 20 industry partners and Alumni attended Mr. Namasivayam’s lecture
on the topic "Technology and Future of Hospitality”.
Taking reference to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the
presentation covered the latest trends in technology and its application to the
hospitality industry. The lecture included
Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Sensors and Data Analytics,
Robotics and Intelligent Automation, 3 D Printing, Platform technologies,
Liquid Workforce and their potential impacts on Customer Experience. Based on this, Mr. Namasivayam discussed
trends and potential directions for the evolution of the hospitality industry
especially with reference to the customer experience.

Karthik Namasivayam,
Ph.D. is Chair of the HTM Department at Rochester Institute of Technology. He
has over 30 years of experience straddling industry and academia in consulting
and organizational design. He has lived and worked on three continents as
Operations Manager, Project Consultant, Entrepreneur, Educator, and Education
Administrator. Previously he served as the Associate Dean of Undergraduate
Programs at Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne, Switzerland. Dr. Namasivayam is a member of the
International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education and
Academy of Management. His current interests include the intersection of
technology and hospitality, technology driven organizational design and
strategy, and hospitality pedagogy. He welcomes conversations about technology
and its strategic impact on organizations of the future.
