Experiential learning by using top professional tools

December 5, 2018

On the warm evening of December 4, 2018, an interesting gathering took place at the RIT Croatia's Dubrovnik campus. For the first time, our HTM students presented the outcomes of their HotelSim work that they did in the past three months. HotelSim is a an internet-delivered, industry-validated simulation converging the STR data, market analysis, predictive analytics, and reputation management processes needed for market, financial, guest, facilities and associate business results. In essence, it teaches students the business of the hotel business, with real competition, real insights and real results. It is used by over 80 reputable hospitality schools worldwide and is available in 42 countries, 10 languages and 8 currencies. The HotelSim is developed by Red Global, a company specializing training assistance to hospitality students and industry professionals from top hotel companies. The relevance of this simulation is best confirmed by the names of hotel companies using their services: Regent, Hyatt, Hilton, Holiday inn, Jumeriah and numerous others.

The student presentations were delivered to the representatives of Hilton Imperial (Mario Matković, General Manager and also our professor, and Daniel Butigan, Director of F&B) and Hotel Bellevue, ALH (Sanela Omerčahić, General Manager and also our professor and alumna). Our students who took part in this off the charts learning experience did it as part of the Lodging Operations Management course delivered by Professor Domagoj Nikolić. They demonstrated competence at the level at which they are able to engage in an in-depth professional scrutiny of specific issues in hotel operations with top industry professionals and we are all immensely proud of their achievement.
